Margareta and I had occasion in July of 2007 to visit Bill and Joyce Oakland at their Blue Ridge mountain home in North Carolina. Bill was very much his old self, in a remarkably good spirit. Their home overlooks the Blue Ridge Mountain range with spectacular views, and their long balcony outside the living room attracts a dozen different species of birds. (We also saw very close, from the balcony, deer, fox, and squirrels with wings -- those winged squirrels can jump a long distance from tree to tree.)
