What

Louisiana FIRST LEGO League (FLL) is an organized robotics competition for teams of kids (ages 9-14) led by an adult coach. Each team designs, constructs and programs a LEGO MINDSTORMS™ robot to perform a task posed by FIRST LEGO League as a nation-wide challenge. Teams demonstrate their robot's ability to perform the challenge in head-to-head competition.

Each Louisiana FLL team builds and programs a robot using the LEGO MINDSTORMS Robotics Invention System. This building process takes place over an eight-week period prior to the tournament. The tournament is structured to be highly energetic with the enthusiasm and energy typically seen at an athletic event. At the tournament, each robot will run autonomously around a specifically designed course as outlined in the FLL Challenge. Each team will score points for completing specific parts of the challenge. In addition to the challenge, each robot is judged on mechanical and programming features, each team must present research they have done in response to the Challenge, and each team is judged on teamwork and other leadership qualities.

The school is just minutes from the Causeway Exit of I-10 between the I-10 and Lake Ponchartrain with the entrance to the gym at the intersection of West Esplanade Avenue and Division Street.

While there are fast food restaurants in close proximity to the school, due to crowded conditions at those outlets, we strongly recommend you plan to bring prepared lunches and canned, plastic or boxed drinks.  No glass bottles are allowed.  Pizza delivery in Metairie is available as an option, too.
