Grammar for the section:

Study the new motion verbs. We have two roots, идУт and Едут, meaning foot and vehicle motion. We have three prefixes. По- is 'set out, start a trip,' при is 'arrive at destination', у 'depart'. These prefixes may form P's with these two roots. For I's of walking verbs, we use the root ходить.

Translate:

3. My parents will set out for Moscow on Friday. [P conjugated, fut] - vehicle

Getting married (students, please put this off for a few years). For now, study the analyses, pp. 23-23.

Трудно найти [it is difficult to find] эту комбинацию. ж. Я женился на умной и красивой девушке, но мы развелись [got divorced]. Это было 20 лет назад, но я ещё её люблю.

з. Это жизнь. Я вышла за бедного [poor], но симпатичного человека. Я буду любить его до смерти [death].

1. I want to marry an American businessman.

2. Kolya wants to marry a beautiful Russian girl.

3. They got married in June.

4. I'm glad she's married.

5. Here comes the girl who wants to marry you. Are you ready?

6. You have no interest in Lena's future (see чтение).

7. I don't know who's interested in what.

8. She met him in Moscow and married him in New Orleans [в Новом Орлеане].

Time expressions. In November; in what month? Use the preposition with в. See 8.4

In a year; in 1940; in 2003. Use в and the preposition. Note the ordinals in 8.7, сороковой, пятидесятый, шестидесятый, семидесятый, восьмидесятый, девяностый.

Еxamples:

1. Я родился в восьмидесятом году. (in 1980)

2. Мы поженились в две тысячи первом (in 2001).

3. Война кончилась в сорок пятом году.

4. Моя мама вышла замуж за моего отчима (stepfather) в девяностом году.
