DETAILED ASSIGNMENT FOR F 29 MAR; PRESENTATION SCHEDULE
Dear Students,
The assignment for F 2 February is to review Child Language for a little quiz, to read "Why Mama and Papa," if you successfully received my scanned pdf file, and to read the first 44 pp. of Fundamentals of Language.
Please think of any questions you may have or any problems you are encountering. I hope scanning and emailing will work, as it is a lot more convenient than library reserve. We'll see.
Thank you for your patience. Here below is a set of questions and comments on Child Language. The quiz will have things like: discuss labials - dentals - alveopalatals - velars in Jakobson feature analysis. Or maybe some raw data from a kid or an aphasic for your brief analysis.
Notes and questions for Child Language.
Dear Students: Assignment for F 9 Feb:
Please complete the reading of Fundamentals of Language, learning the features in outline and the Stratification chapter, pp. 50-60ff, which is very full. Get ready for a quiz on the readings so far.
I will place some materials on the site for you to read, including a detailed article on the French phonemic pattern which shows how the features work in the context of one language. Check the site again maybe Thursday after you have finished Fundamentals.
I appreciate your patience and enthusiasm! If it seems to be getting too tight in my office for all of us, I think we can find a classroom at that hour. I'll ask.
Regards, gmc
