Associate Professor of Russian

George Cummins received his Ph.D. from Harvard University in Slavic languages and literatures, with specializations in Czech and Russian linguistics. He writes on Czech, Slovak, and Russian language; Slavic linguistics and poetics; and language pedagogy.

Recent publications include studies of determination theory. In a strange aberration, he is currently writing on textology in Gustav Mahler. He teaches the full range of Slavic language courses at Tulane, including new courses in oral Russian, Czech language and culture, and achievements in Slavic linguistics.
