Observations and comments: Larvae of this species mimick bird droppings. The first and second instars also hide on frass chains that they construct on the end of the leaves of their host plant.

The larvae of the three species in the genus Limenitis are difficult to distingush from each other in the field. There is a simple key in Howe 1975 that is useful in telling them apart.
