This is a graded assignment.
Case Problem 4 from Tutorial 3 is presented in our TextBook beginning on page HTML 220 (last page of Tutorial 3). Additional information, including the Grading Rubric, is found on the Assignment WebPage. Make certain you understand the Gading Rubric. Its requirements are not the same as the TextBook discussion of this Case Problem.
This assignment requires you to redesign a WebSite, Gresham Children's Choir. You start with a sample WebPage, choirtxt.htm, which you will rename to be choir.htm or choir.html. You are also given a completed style sheet named gcc_layout.css. And you are given an empty style sheet, gcc_stylestxt.css, that you will rename gcc_styles.css. It is this style sheet, gcc_styles.css, that you will use to redesign the WebSite. Remember to include documentation in your WebPages and StyleSheets, especially make note of where you are meeting the Grading Rubric Requirements. You are given several other files including font-family NobileRegular, that you will use in your redesign.
Needed Data Files:
Data Files are located in the tutorial.03/case4 folder.
File named "modernizr-1.5.js" we will not need. You will realize that we need modernizr, but we will all use (link to) a version of "modernizr.js" on George's WebSite. Using this file is important, this is why all of us will link to the same version of modernizr.
What to do:
You start without a concreet idea of what your Gresham site should look like. So, you are in charge of design. Your site will be at least three (3) pages, the choir.html page and a new page you will make with links to external WebSites related to Choir, and your WebSite Elements WebPage. Be sure to provide an easy navigation path to all pages. An idea for a 4th page would to make a "Splash" page as the site's HomePage. Many WebSites use a "Splash" page ... you see them all the time.
Start early. Work hard. Complete all of the 6 steps from the textbook page HTML 220 (last page of Tutorial 3). Remember, the Grading Rubric has 19 items for you to satisfy. Use our HTML Template because it includes the correct reference to the character set we will use, "utf-8". And, it includes the link to the version of modernizr.js we are using.
Use a folder on your computer to keep all pages for this WebSite organized. Make a new folder on CPST WebServer, name it "Week_06". Use it to keep your WebSites organized.
Save often. Upload your WebPage to CPST WebServer often. Browse to your WebPage often to see your progress. Use W3C MarkUp Validation Service and W3C CSS Validation Service often to guarantee you are writing syntax-error-free HTML and CSS.
Turn your WebSite in to be graded.
Turn in your WebSite by eMail'ing the URL of your class Home Page, include in your eMail text saying "Please grade my Week 6 WebSite, Gresham Children's Choir".
It is obvious that you included a link to your Gresham WebSite on your class Home Page. By the end of our Semester, your Home Page will have links to ALL assignment WebSites. Make certain your links work correctly. Make certain you have linked to the WebSite you want graded.
Turn in before midnight Friday
If you turn in before midnight Friday, I will give you feedback you can use to make improvements. You can turn in assignments as often as you like. I will never grade assignments until after due date is past. Even if you are not complete, you benefit by turning in assignments early.
