June 26 – July 17, 2000

Orientation
     The program begins on Monday, June 26 with an orientation to Jacmel and its surrounding environs. . This will include a tour of nearby facilities, description of travel procedures on the island, use of currency, and an introduction to shopping for food and related items. Students are expected to arrive in Port au Prince on Sunday, June 25 to be transported, en mass, to Jacmel. Classes will begin on Tuesday, June 27.

Registration
     Students must register for courses prior to departure. Students may choose the Satisfactory/Unsatisfactory (S/U) Option during the first week of class. Students who elect to take courses for S/U credit must check with their Deans or academic advisors to determine if credits will be accepted on that basis. In order to receive a grade of S, a student must earn a C- or better in the course.
Note: All students are required to register for six credits (two courses).

 To apply, complete the application form and return it along with your letter of academic standing, if applicable, to Professor Monique Guillory, Director, Summer Program in Haiti, at the Department of English. In addition, a $400 non-refundable deposit must be submitted Friday, March 31, 2000. The balance of the program cost ($2,940) is due by Friday, April 14, 2000.
