Holidays: Call for hours of operation.
Emergencies: For on campus emergencies, call extension 5200. Tulane Emergency Medical Service (Tulane EMS) is an ambulance service run by students who are basic and intermediate level Emergency Medical Technicians. They can transport acutely ill or injured students free of charge from on campus to Tulane University Medical Center, or any of the other local hospitals. For off campus emergencies, call 911. During the School year when the Student Health Center is closed, a physician is on call by beeper for urgent medical or psychiatric concerns. The on call doctor can be reached through the answering service at 504.889.3352. Please give your name and phone number where you can be reached and keep your phone line clear. Advise the answering service that you need to talk to the Health Center physician who is on-call. The on-call physician will return your call as soon as possible. Services Provided: Anonymous HIV Testing, Emergency Contraception, Laboratory, Nurse Triage Express, Nutrition, Patient Advocate, Pharmacy, Wellness & Health Promotion Clinics Provided: Allergy, Men's, Primary Care, Psychiatry, Stress Management, Substance Abuse, Travel, Weekend, Women's Services and Clinics are provided to students regardless of their insurance program. Eligibility For Care: All full-time Tulane students are eligible to be seen in the listed clinics at the Student Health Center. Part-time and dissertation students need to pay a Health Center fee to be eligible. Students at the School of Medicine and School of Public Health and Tropical Medicine can receive primary medical care either the Uptown or Downtown Student Health Center. Fees: Full-time students have already prepaid their Student Health Center (Uptown) fee at the time of registration, so primary care services are provided with no further charge. Fees are charged for laboratory tests, pharmacy purchases, orthopedic appliances, immunizations, Travel Clinic, and consultant gynecological services, but these can either be billed directly to your student account or paid by check, cash, or credit card. Many of these expenses are covered by your medical insurance plan.
