Israel Advocacy Training Day

The goal is to: 1) recruit and engage pro-Israel students that want to learn more on how to be an advocate for Israel and 2) give tangible resources and skills in order to do this.

Winter Israel Mission
Have you been to Israel? Would you like to go back? Hillel is again offering its premier Winter Israel Mission this December. The registration deadline is October 25, Noon ET. This year Hillel is offering three tracks: Jewish Pluralism and Learning, Tzedek (Social Justice) and Advanced Israel Advocacy.
In addition to the time students spend in their specialized tracks there will also be two events that bring all three tracks together: the Steinhardt Shabbaton and Global Israel Showcase. For more information, visit www.hillel.org

AED Hasbara Fellowships in Israel
December 19 - January 3
A special trip specifically for AEPi brothers.
Hasbara Fellowships is a leadership development seminar for top Jewish university students from across North America. Due to the ongoing conflict in the Middle East, there is a necessity to develop young Jewish leaders who are educated and knowledgeable about Israeli history and politics, as well as capable of communicating a pro-Israel message to the Diaspora community, specifically on college campuses.

The cost of this program is $599, including a round trip flight from New York to Tel Aviv. Other subsidies and scholarships are available.

A CALL TO ACTION: SYNAGOGUES WORKING TO END VIOLENCE IN JEWISH HOMES AND RELATIONSHIPS
Thursday, October 14 7:00 PM -8:00pm -No Charge JCC - Uptown 5342 St. Charles Ave ~~~ The main topic will be the Needs Assessment done by JWI in reference to fighting Domestic Abuse in the Jewish Community. The problem is as prolific as in the community at large and 1 in 4 women are victims of Domestic Abuse and you may have read yesterday that Louisiana ranks #2 for women being killed by men. This is a vital issue and it is important for men and women to get involved!

Youth Tzedekah Day on Sunday, September 26th from 9-4 Volunteers are needed throughout the day to help wrap Chanukah gifts and create greeting cards for more than 2,000 low-income Jewish youth who live in the mid- South as well as Jewish adults who live in nursing homes or remain isolated in communities. The New Orleans Chapter of Hadassah is looking for some volunteers to help out one Sunday a month from 10:00am to 11:30am with our new Training Wheels program. It is a Jewish Education program for the entire family and targets children ages 2-5. The program will take place at the Metairie JCC campus.

NEW ORLEANS TECHNOLOGICAL ASSISTANCE PROGRAM
Student volunteer opportunity for anyone who likes children and wants to make a difference. The New Orleans Technological Assistance Program (NOTAP) operates a computer lab in the top floor of a community center near CJ Peete. Every Wednesday and Thursday 3:15 - 5:00, volunteers tutor children in the basics of using the computer. If you have written an email or a paper for class, you have enough experience to help out. If you are interested in

National SOREF Alternative Spring Break in the U.S.
The Soref Initiative for Emerging Campuses and spark: Partnership for Service are partnering to create a National Soref Alternative Spring Break in the U.S, a fantastic new opportunity for approximately 75 students from campuses served by the Soref Initiative.
