Final Exam: Part 1 Take-home section

You are trying to win a contract to oversee the data collection component of a substantial survey project. As part of the bidding, you must submit a proposal detailing your role and responsibility on the project. You would like to convince the investigators that they can minimize error in their survey by hiring a contractor to train and supervise the interviewers. To that aim, you design the interviewer training program that you will implement if hired.

Please find a survey methods description from a study publication or from a reputable website (please see the instructor if you are unsure about the website) and design an interviewer training program for the study.

• Describe how you will recruit and hire interviewers and how you will train them.
• Design a brief, but detailed, manual for the interviewers that instructs them in their role in all elements of the interview, with special attention to minimizing error attributed to interviewers.
• Describe methods of supervising interviewers.
• Describe steps you will take to detect and minimize interviewer error.
