"Light a cigar and let me
expound." --Sherlock Holmes
Hospitalized, T. S. Eliot received a short note from Groucho Marx. "I am rooting for your recovery, because of your contributions to literature and the fact that under trying conditions, you never stopped smoking cigars."
A hobby I have enjoyed for about three years (I picked up most of my grips in college) cigars are definitely up there on my list of life's mini-peak experiences. Many of evening have been spent sitting outside as the sun goes down puffing away at a good Macanudo. As for the health factor, as a budding public health expert I can only defer to the insight of Fletcher Knebel that "smoking is the leading cause of statistics."
"Alcohol is the anesthesia by
which we endure the operation of life." --George Bernard

My interest in wine developed during my junior year of college...in part to the efforts of a former professor and great friend who shall remain nameless. A poor college student living on a limited budget, I cannot offer any suggestions on the best wines on the market; however, I am well aware of the good, inexpensive vintages. Right now, the Australian wines are my favorite...Lindemann's and Jacob's Creek to name a few. Damn good and under $10! You will either really like these wines or you will really hate them.
"Nothing ever goes away." --Barry

For the record, I do boast some healthy habits as well. Expensive...but healthy. This summer I will be travelling to Ghana and Togo for six weeks and then plan to tackle Eastern Europe for another six weeks before returning home at the end of the summer. I will prolong my journey until my budget no longer sustains me. Upon my return, I will begin the process of applying for PhD programs in Social Psychology. If you like to fly, click here!
