Mark Jennings VanLandingham, M.P.H., Ph.D., is Associate Professor in the Department of International Health and Development.  Dr. VanLandingham's work in the area of reproductive health began in 1980 when he went to Thailand as a Peace Corps volunteer to breed fish.  His work in human reproductive health began in 1991 when he returned to Thailand to collect data for his dissertation research, which as an investigation of the influence of peers on Thai male sexual behavior.  Other work in Thailand includes an analysis of behavioral change related to HIV/AIDS currently underway there; a study of how AIDS effects older persons; and a study of the interactions among population density, migration, and fertility during the pre-contraceptive era.  He is also working in Vietnam on two studies of how mirgration affects health outcomes.  His research has been supported by The National Insititutes of Health, The Rockefeller Foundation, Family Health International, The Mellon Foundation, and the Centers for Disease Control.
