POLICY AND LEGISLATION

Legislation on IDA
There is legislation to address iron deficiency in Cote d'Ivoire, and the government has published documents stating the national policy regarding iron deficiency.

Legislation was adopted in 1999.  Its objective is to reduce the prevalence of anemia by half in the group of children younger than 11 years of age and in pregnant women from 1999-2003.

There is national policy on iron supplementation for women, but not for children.  It is being considered.
There is no national policy regarding iron fortification programs, but is under consideration.

Government Agency to Address IDD
The National Nutrition Programme (NNP).  Their function is both coordination and monitoring.
