Groups Surveyed: Children 5-14 years old and Pregnant Women
Sample Size: 627
Sampling Method: Representative sample of households from the ten regions comprising the country were used in the survey.  Urine samples were collected from school-age children (5-14 years) for measurement of iodine concentrations.  Urine and blood samples were also collected from pregnant women attending antenatal clinics in government-run health centers for measurement of iodine concentrations.

Current monitoring activities for iodine levels in salt
     Monitoring activities for iodine levels in salt are conducted on a quarterly basis.
     Quality control of the monitoring the salt iodine is conducted via analysis from the Food and Drug Department who collect samples from retailers, importers, and households.  Results are produced in a report to the government.

     There is no monitoring of the goiter rate.
