This is a clinical rotation site for a training program which has been funded by the Infectious Diseases Society of America (IDSA) to provide AIDS clinical experiences to foreign physicians. During the academic year 1991-1992, it hosted 3 physicians from India for a 5-week clinical rotation through this program.
During the 1992-1993 academic year, it hosted one physician from Brazil for a 3-week clinical experience, and one physician from New Zealand for a 2-week clinical experience, also through this lDSA-sponsored program.
It is anticipated that it will be invited to host WHO fellowship recipients who have requested clinical AIDS training, and expect that this will become an ongoing international training activity.
To establish Tulane as a premier medical education institution as well as a major resource for physicians and socially elite citizens, and position the Medical Center as the referral institution of choice among physicians and patients seeking healthcare in the U.S.,

The Office of Student Services and MEdREP developed over the last seventeen years and implemented and implemented a Comprehensive Medical Review Program(CMRP), a certification/licensure examination preparation program for Saudia Armaco Physicians to address their test preparation needs.
The ongoing intervention program began in 1986 and has been offered semiannually to fourteen groups of five (5) or six (6) physician (Armaco) now totaling sixty-five (#65) and is to continue through 1994 in accordance with our current contract which has been renewed annually.
In 1994, we have been contacted by the Department of the Treasury of the U.S. to offer the same CMRP Program as described above to Saudi Arab physicians (10 per group) who are to be sponsored by the Saudi Arab Ministry, thus, assisting two groups per year.
This is a joint venture between Tulane and Japan for biomedical research. The Center is staffed by both American and Japanese personnel. There is also some participation by graduate students from Tulane University, and the Center has one graduate stipend to offer.
Funding for the Center comes from grants and contributions from both Tulane and Japan.
Several members of the department are involved in collaborative research activities. The University of Seville, Spain, has indicated a desire to establish a permanent exchange program.
Six months of clinical training is provided for anesthesiology residents.
Approximately every six months, Dr. Ferrara brings a volunteer medical team into west central Honduras in order to provide surgical services to surrounding villages. There is no governmental affiliation, nor source of funding.
