Memorable Phone Calls

Hey, I love doing the show. It's just that I have learned that people will complain about anything. I thought I'd share some of the better moments with you all...

June 21, 2003

OL: WTUL.
Caller: Hey, what's this that's playing?
OL: The Mikado, by Gilbert and Sullivan.
Caller: Really?
OL: Yes.
Caller: They wrote operas, huh?
OL: Yes, several of them.
Caller: I thought they wrote musicals.
-silence-
OL: Nope, operas.
Caller: That's really interesting.
OL: Isn't it?
The caller then went on to ask for tickets.

April 19, 2003

OL: WTUL
Caller: Listen, it's pronounced (perfect accent) "d'armi fragor poc'anzi intesi" and "Orchestra del Teatro dell'Opera di Roma," all right?
-click-
OL: uhhh What?

March 22, 2003

OL: WTUL
Caller: Could you play "Hold Me Down and F*** Me"?
OL: Sorry, this is the Opera Show. You'll need to call back when they're doing progressive.
Caller: It's what?
OL: The Opera Show.
Caller (with disgust): Op-er-a?
OL: Yup.
Caller: Oh, man. With everything you guys could play, you're doing opera?
OL: Yup.
Caller: Gr-oss.
The caller then went on to ask for tickets.
