Originally published under the same title by the Lower Mississippi Survey, Peabody Museum, Harvard University in 1983. This version is revised and updated.

North American Prehistory: Reference Sources in the Howard-Tilton Library

General references on North American prehistory. Good starting point for developing paper topics and for locating reference works. An especially useful aspect of this bibliographic resource is the links to electronic resources relevant to Anthropology and Archaeology. Anthropological Literature (Tozzer Library, Harvard University)

An excellent research tool for doing bibliographic research in Anthropology. The Tozzer Library indexes journals by author, title, keyword, and subject heading. This index covers all four subfields of anthropology but does not list monographs or books. (restricted to Tulane University students, staff, and faculty)

Anthropological Index (British Museum)

Similar to Anthropological Literature but less user friendly. Has global coverage with Old World emphasis.
