Hydro climate transitions in Tulane Delta Basin

Barefoot brings new Tulane Delta Basin Experiment on Hydro-climate transitions to a close

Eric Barefoot, visiting from Rice University since February, is nearing completion of an experiment aimed at understanding how transitions in an environment's hydro climate, specifically water discharge variability, influence morphodynamcis and stratigraphic products. These experiments, motivated by observations from PETM stratigraphy observed in outcrops from the U.S. west will help unlock how climate transitions are stored in strata. The experiment will end at about 1,000 hours of run-time following many equipment failures that we have had to work through and some awesome engineering of new automation features led by Eric. Our delta basin now can "really" run 24/7 on automation with awesome data collection.
