The Collection consists of papers of Emilio Harth-terré, the noted Peruvian architect, related to the art and architecture of colonial Peru. The collection includes some professional correspondence; manuscripts of articles by Harth-terré and others; reprints and clippings; very extensive notes and transcripts of documents in various civil and church archives in Peru on gold- and silversmiths and Indian, black, and mestizo artisans and painters; also notes on various colonial public buildings, churches, convents, and monasteries.

Archival notes
These are research notes compiled by Harth-terré from civil and church archives in Peru for his studies on Peruvian artists and artisans.

A. Plateros
Information from archival and printed sources on gold- and silversmiths in colonial Peru. The data are in the form of brief notes. The materials are arranged alphabetically by smiths and divided by centuries as indicated on the inventory list. For some smiths there may be a transcript of a document or documents in which his name appears in the material in Box 30.

L. Indice de Artífices.
Transcripts of documents in which appear the names of artisans. The documents are of various sorts--property sales, slave sales, apprentice agreements, promissory notes, powers of attorney, agreements, wills. These differ from the data contained in boxes 11-17 in that these are entire documents rather than notations from manuscripts and printed sources. There are additional notes on individual artisans in Boxes 11-17.
