  • Half of an estimated 16,000,000 km2 of tropical forests have been cleared and most remaining forests have been damaged or modified.
  • 1,500,000 km2 of tropical forest are still cleared each decade.
  • ½ the world's human population lives in tropical/subtropical regions.
  • What are the consequences of the massive extinctions that will occur over the next century?
