to Dr. Jeanne C. Roeling Hanley (wife).

Biographical sketch
Patrick H. Hanley was born in Lockport, Louisiana, in
1909. He graduated from Southwestern Louisiana Institute in 1929 and the
Tulane University School of Medicine in 1933.
During World War II, Hanley served as a lieutenant commander
in Bahia, Brazil, where he devoted himself to disease prevention and health
education. After the war he returned to New Orleans, eventually rising
to the position of Emeritus Professor of Surgery at Tulane School of Medicine
and Emeritus Chair of the Department of Colon and Rectal Surgery at Ochsner
Clinic.
From
1970-75 he served on the Board of Visitors of Tulane University. In 1974
Hanley served as President of the Tulane Alumni Association. He received
numerous awards, including the American Society of Colon and Rectal Surgeons
Award for his pioneering work in audio-visual programming as a medical
teaching tool.

His wife, Jeanne Roeling Hanley, was also a physician.
