Correspondence, personal and professional papers, military
records, photographs, and other papers documenting primarily the professional
activities of Harry D. Morris, a New Orleans orthopedic surgeon. Morris
participated actively in professional medical associations and regularly
contributed to the professional literature.
PROVENANCE
Mrs. Harry D. Morris donated the papers of her late husband
to the Tulane Manuscripts Department in 1980.
SCOPE
The papers primarily span the period from the middle of
the 1930s to the late 1970s, with the bulk of the documents concerning
Dr. Morris' involvement with professional medical associations. These include
presentations and speeches at professional meetings, files regarding his
elected offices, board memberships, committee appointments, and Morris'
professional publications. A substantial portion of the collection preserves
copies of his professional publications and personal and professional photographs,
many of which record medical conditions. A smaller portion documents his
experiences in the military from 1942-1947.
