The International Council on Archives is a non-governmental organization, acting internationally, which is concerned with archives and their role in  the conduct of public and private activities, the protection of individual rights, and the advancement of human knowledge and culture. The ICA site contains information on its programs, members, regional branches, publications, and more.

 

Academy of Certified Archivists 
The Academy's web site is your essential resource for information about archival certification. It includes full information about qualifying to take the exam, sample questions, suggested readings, application forms, the complete text of the ACA Handbook, full information about the Academy's "You Pick Your Site" program (by which you can hold the examination in your home town), the text of the role delineation document (on which the exam questions are based), guidelines and suggestions for certification maintenance, and more. Society of American Archivists
SAA is the world's largest archival organization and serves SAA logoan international membership. Its site includes SAA education and workshop information, society directories, contact information for archival organizations throughout the United States and Canada, membership information, annual meeting information, and many other important and useful resources for the professional archivist. It also includes the full text of selected SAA brochures, such as "Information for Donors," to which you may link from your web site. This is an important resource for the entire profession.

 

Archivist's Daybook 
Here you will find contact information for meetings, workshops, seminars, and other events from around the world of interest to archivists. It is derived from the "Archivist's Daybook," a regular feature of the Southwestern Archivist. The Southwestern Archivist is the quarterly publication of the Society of Southwest Archivists. If you know of upcoming events related to archives that we should add, please let us know.

 

Directory of Regional, State, and Local Archival Organizations in the United States
This site contains contact information (including organizational mailing address, contact information for the president and newsletter editor, number of members, and dues, when available) for archival societies throughout the USA. It is searchable by region, name, or master list. Created and maintained by Peter Nelson.

 

National Coalition for History 
Through this site archivists can keep up with political and governmental affairs in the United States as they pertain to archives and history.  Since 1982, NCH (formerly the National Coordinating Committee for the Promotion of History) has served as a national advocacy office for the historical and archival professions. This web site, sponsored by H-Net: Humanities Online, provides access to NCC legislative and policy issues briefs and back issues of NCC Washington Updates.

 

The Fictional World of Archives, Art Galleries, and Museums
