At SDSU Patricia worked with Dr. David Marx studying stereotype threat, particularly its negative effects on women in mathematics. At Tulane, Patricia is continuing her research on stereotype threat. She has recently become interested in the intersectionality research and how identifying with two stigmatized identities (e.g. being Black and being a woman) impacts different psychological phenomenon. .
