CRIME ALERT

ATTEMPTED KIDNAPPING

MONDAY, APRIL 7, 1997 7:50 A.M.

At 7:50 A.M. on Monday, April 7, a non-associated female was walking past the old Trailways Bus Terminal on Tulane Avenue when she was approached by an unknown male who attempted to pull her into an auto.

The victim stated that she had just departed the west bank bus at Loyola and Elk and was walking in the 1300 block of Tulane Avenue in front of the old bus station. An unknown make and model blue colored station wagon with a black male driver stopped, exited the vehicle, approached the victim and attempted to pull her into the vehicle via the right front passenger door. The victim began to scream and the suspect let her go. The suspect then got back into the auto and fled the scene. The victim reported that the auto did not have a license plate attached but there may a been a temporary license tag attached to the rear window. The victim also feels that she may have seen this auto as she waited for the bus on General DeGaulle Avenue on the west bank. Suspect is a black male, mid 30s, 5-6, 140 lbs, short hair, medium dark skin, wearing jean shirt.

TUMC Police has not received any other information of incidents of this nature occurring in the area.
