The Tulane University Concert Band rehearsals are held every Monday and Wednesday evenings from 5:15-6:30pm. Repertoire covers significant 20th Century compositions for band plus classic transcriptions and contemporary pieces. The academic year 2004-05 performances of the Tulane Concert Band included The New Orleans Centre, the National D-Day Museum, The Louisiana Superdome, Mardi Gras, the Tulane President's Concert and the annual Spring Concert in collaboration with the Tulane University Orchestra.
From 1938-1968, Tulane Band Director John Morrissey established a very popular and successful band program. He published over 50 original compositions for concert band, and presented concerts to full houses in McAlister Auditorium. The contemporary Tulane University Concert Band explores Mr. Morrissey's musical scores, to re-discover and share this great in-house resource that is unique to Tulane University. The Tulane Concert Band shared the stage with the New Orleans Concert Band on the afternoon of Sunday, March 26, 2006 in Tulane’s McAlister Auditorium for a program of all John Morrissey music.
