Daniel Weilbaecher received the Bachelor of Music and Masters of Music degrees from the University of Louisiana at Lafayette, the Doctor of Musical Arts degree from Louisiana State University, and the Recital Diploma from the Royal Academy of Music in London.

He serves on the adjunct faculty of Newcomb’s Department of Music at Tulane University where, in addition to teaching piano and theory, he organizes the department’s weekly Music at Midday series.

Weilbaecher has also served on the faculties of Louisiana State University and Loyola University. He has held the positions of president of the Metropolitan Music Teachers Association of New Orleans and chairman of the Music Teachers National Association’s Yamaha Competition for Louisiana.

In 1994, Weilbaecher was named Executive/Artistic Director of the Musical Arts Society of New Orleans, the organization that sponsors the annual New Orleans International Piano Competition and Keyboard Festival/Piano Institute.

A native New Orleanian, Weilbaecher has performed solo and chamber programs throughout Louisiana as well as in Texas, Mississippi, Alabama, New Hampshire, Massachusetts, and England. He has studied or coached with, among others, Edgar Davis, Sylvia Zaremba, Madelyn Trible, James Dick, Daniel Sher, Gordon Green, Constance Carroll, and Martin Canin.
