M.A. Candidate in Composition
Murali was born and raised in Miami, surrounded by the syncopation and improvisation of Afro-Cuban music. Writing for both acoustic and electro-acoustic mediums, his sound is based on textures and repeated patterns - an emphasis on moments and their gradual development. His style has been described as "attractive music, which circumvents completely sentimentaility, but is so alluringly lyrical." His music has been performed by ensembles such as the International Contemporary Ensemble and the mMusic Ensemble. He received undergraduate degree at NYU where he studied with Elizabeth Hoffman, Louis Karchin and Jason Stanyek. Currently, he is pursing a Masters degree at Tulane University under the direction of Barbara Jazwinski. To view his portfolio and learn more, please visit http://suchsweetthunder.net.
