B.S. in Music Science & Technology

Born in New Orleans, Trey Matthew Duplantis has lived in a great many places, including Texas, Florida and Arkansas.  He spent his high school years in nearby Baton Rouge, and has returned to his birth city to study at Tulane.  Trey became interested in music when he felt, as Schopenhauer before him did, that music directly expresses thoughts and ideas.  Trey believes that music is a language that can be used to communicate these ideas and embody the pure expressions of the musician.  He is interested in music that challenges his ears, chaotic music with an underlying beauty that challenges the listener to find it.  Trey specializes in the piano, which he took up in middle school, but has had experience with numerous other instruments and has experimented with various electronic music programs.  He has participated in school jazz ensembles and conducted the premier performance of his first twelve-tone piece in March of 2010.

Trey is currently a freshman in the Tulane Music Science and Technology program.
