Biographical/Historical note
Jane Kelleher Riess Barkerding established herself as a leader of many groups within the Newcomb and New Orleans communities. She served as President of the Newcomb Alumnae Association, the Tulane Emeritus Board of Directors, and on the committee that built the Rogers Memorial Chapel. She received the Newcomb Alumnae Service and Loyalty Award in 1988 and the Tulane Volunteer of the Year award in 1994.

This collection preserves the legacy of Jane Kelleher Riess Barkerding as a civic leader, wife, and mother. In newspaper clippings, correspondence, awards, and personal notes, this collection contains information on her multiple leadership positions, events, and awards that bear testimony to her involvement with Newcomb College and Tulane Alumnae Affairs, as well as New Orleans society. There is also information on her husband, Frank Riess (TU ’38) and his work in engineering and the oil business.
