Biographical/Historical note

Loraine Despres is a novelist and screenwriter. Her best known works include "The Scandalous Summer of Sissy LeBlanc" (2002) and the episode "Who Shot JR?" from the television show "Dallas". She was raised in Amite, LA and graduated from Northwestern University in Evanston, IL. Despres also taught screenwriting at UCLA and served on the board of Women in Film and was a trustee for the Women in Film Foundation.
