Biographical/Historical note
Dora Bonquois was from a New Orleans family who lived in the downtown and Lakeview areas. A 1935 graduate of Newcomb, she later received a master’s degree in history at Louisiana State University.
Scope and Contents note
The collection reflects her interest in historical writing, including her own study of the life of Henry Adams Bullard; family history (including ledgers of family businesses); and her education in New Orleans public schools, Newcomb, and LSU.
Organization and Arrangement
Materials have been arranged in seven boxes with three boxes continaing materials damaged during Hurricane Katrina in 2005, copied, as well as radiated.
