Biographical/Historical note
Friends for Newcomb was formed on Jan. 13, 1987 by alumnae unsatisfied with Tulane's interactions with Newcomb, and with what they saw as Tulane's attempt to "absorb" Newcomb. This leadership group protested the Tulane/Newcomb merger and remains as a watchdog organization monitoring Tulane's actions with an eye for keeping Newcomb strong.
Scope and Contents note
This collection consists principally of correspondence between members (1987), statements of purpose, reports, and letters to and from Tulane. The updated version also includes the presentation to the collegiate education consultants, published articles, and other miscellaneous information.
Organization and Arrangement
Materials have been arranged in two boxes with folders labeled by subject and date. Original order was kept on documents.
