Biographical/Historical note
Jane Whipple attended Newcomb Art School in the late 1920s. She was a student of Ellsworth Woodward, an influential professor of Drawing and Painting as well as director of the Newcomb Art School until 1931. Whipple went on to study art in New York City and New Jersey. Her art has been displayed in numerous galleries around the country and in Germany. She was active on the board of the Federated Art Association for many years. Green died March 16, 2007, in Schaumburg, Illinois.
Scope and Contents note
The collection consists of class assignments and other works by Jane Whipple during her time at Newcomb. This includes sketches, charcoals, and watercolors.
