Biographical/Historical note
Jeanne Helwig was instrumental in rallying support for feminist causes, and this collection focuses on her work as an E.R.A. activist. She was the president of the League of Women Voters in Jefferson Parish in the 1970s and a Jefferson National Organization for Women member.
Scope and Contents note
This collection contains a rich assortment of Jeanne Helwig’s feminist activism memorabilia, including t-shirts, buttons, posters, and a variety of literature supporting women’s rights, the Equal Rights Act, the repeal of discriminatory laws, and education reform in Louisiana.
