Biographical/Historical note
Edith Anita Honold was born in New Orleans on April 27, 1907. She graduated from Newcomb College in 1927 with a B.A. and from the Tulane Graduate School in 1930 with a Masters in Science. She went on to hold positions as a Technician and Supervisor of the Surgery Laboratory at Tulane School of Medicine from 1934-1942. Honold made contributions to the United State Department of Agriculture as an Assistant Scientific Aide of Physical Chemistry from 1942 to 1943, as well as to the Institute of Textile Technology in Charlottesville, VA, working as a Physical Chemist and Research Assistant. She made considerable achievements in her lifetime and was affiliated with organizations such as the American Association for the Advancement of Science, Marquis Biographical Library Society (advisory member), Who's Who in American Women, and much more.
Organization and Arrangement
The collection was originally in one small box. Some materials were in old file folders, and some were not. The materials have been put in a new flat box containing folders arranged alphabetically. The contents were put into folders according to topic or subject matter. Items such as pins were put into a smaller box. Certificates and poster-sized diplomas were not put into folders but were laid flat in the box. The collection consists of Newcomb and Tulane materials and Commencement programs, photographs, correspondence, awards, certificates, and writings and published work.
