Scope and Contents note

This collection contains materials gathered and used by the Newcomb College Center for Research for Women during the Keeping the Memories Project, which researched and archived the Second Wave Louisiana Feminist Movement (1960s-1980s). This particular collection consists of the paperwork and documents used for the archival component of the project as well as the Symposium, presented March 24, 2001. Several other archival collections resulted from this project, but they are not included in this particular collection, but rather, are separate collections that can be found in the Newcomb Archives. This collection would be of particular interest to those researching the activities of the NCCROW during the 2000-2001 and 2001-2002 academic years in regards to the Keeping the Memories Project.

Organization and Arrangement

The material has been arranged into one NAB storage box and sorted by subject. Approximately the first half of the folders in the box are directly tied to the activities of the Newcomb College Center for Research on Women (such as correspondences and training materials). The second half consists more of background and research materials gathered during the project. All papers have been folded and laid flat. All metal fasteners have been removed.

General note

The finding aid contains an index of individual files. Note: Listed for each woman, usually under Autobiographical or Biographical information, are notations of the woman's major feminist achievements in Louisiana during the 1970s and 1980s. This short list is not reflective of all of the feminist activities of each woman, and the reader should research further to gain a full understanding of each individual's complete feminist involvements.
