Scope and Contents note
This collection contains materials relating to Crystal Kile's thesis on the group of young feminists called the Riot Grrrls. Kile's thesis breaks down the Riot Grrrl movement into subdivisions of Music, Fanzines, and Appearances. Included in this collection are fanzines and other documents from the early 1990s to today related to the Riot Grrrl movement. Also in this collection are a few 7 inches of various bands (Hole, Lunachicks, Babes in Toyland, etc.). This collection would be of particular interest to those reseaching feminism from a modern perspective.
Organization and Arrangement
The material has been arranged into two storage cartons. The first one contains the sections: Full Color Magazines, Comics, Other Publications, Flyers, Thesis, Miscellaneous Documents, and Miscellaneous Artifacts. The second carton contains the zines, broken down into zines that have more than one issue, and single zines. The material has been filed alphabetically in each category. The papers in the collection have been unfolded whenever possible and most metal fasteners have been removed.
