Biographical/Historical note

Ida Rittenberg Kohlmeyer (NC ’33) achieved international acclaim for her abstract paintings and sculptures. She received her B.A in English from Newcomb College in 1933, and then returned to receive her M.F.A from Newcomb Art School in 1956. She is well known for her sculpture, “The Krewe of Poydras,” located in downtown New Orleans.

Organization and Arrangement

Materials have been foldered and arranged in one box. Two books have been moved to the Newcomb Authors collection on the shelf in the front, upstairs archive.

Two copies of the following book form part of the original collection donated by Evelyn Witherspoon. The books were removed from the archival collection and cataloged as part of the Newcomb Authors Special Collection of the Nadine Vorhoff Library and the Newcomb Archives.
