Biographical/Historical note

Glendy Culligan wrote feature articles for the local newspaper the New Orleans Item. She worked at the Washington Post as the copy editor and assistant editor of the Women's page in 1949. After returning to work from maternity leave she began to work as a reporter, and finally transferred to the position of editor of the "Features" section. During this time she started to review books, and thus became the editor of the Washington Post's revitalized book page. After she retired her writing resurfaced again in the Center for Jury Studies Newsletter, a publication founded and co-written by her husband. There is also an oral history tape concerning her life in the Newcomb Archives.
