Biographical/Historical note

Raised in Memphis, Wendi Schneider attended Stephens College in Missouri, and then graduated with a BFA from H. Sophie Newcomb Memorial College. After graduation she worked in the hotel business, then as an illustrator in New Orleans for the “Times Picayune.” While working as a designer and photographer for the “Times Picayune,” Wendi produced the award winning "Picayune's Creole Cook Book." In the autumn of 1988 she moved to New York with her portfolio of work, where her unusual style and keen eye for beauty were immediately welcomed. In 1994 she moved to Colorado to devote more time to her fine art. Wendi Schneider's graceful compositions are evidence of her enduring commitment to beauty and passion. Perfecting the technique of oil painting on photographs, Wendi has achieved much praise and awards for her work. Her photographs can be found in collections around the world, and can be viewed at: A Gallery for Fine Photography in New Orleans; the Stuart Levy Gallery in New York; Rule Modern & Contemporary Gallery and The Carol Siple Gallery Ltd in Denver; Jean Efron Art Consultants in Washington DC; the Wach Gallery in Avon Lake Ohio; and at the artist's studio in Denver and Crested Butte Colorado.
