Scope and Contents note
This collection mostly contains the various writings of Mary Ann Spence, including journals, planners, and letters. It also contains newspaper and magazine clippings, postcards, pamphlets, and brochures. Mary Ann wrote a lot about her internal conflicts of being a housewife, her political musings and frustrations, her various travels abroad, her work within the family, and her theological views. Materials date from the 1890s up until the 2000s, but most of the material is from the 1940s through the 1980s.
Organization and Arrangement
Materials have been arranged in one large box and two smaller boxes. Materials have been arranged into folders with headings. The order of materials has been kept the same. If the materials came to us in a titled folder, the heading was kept the same. Otherwise, an appropriate heading was given based on subject matter.
