Biographical/Historical note
Carolyn Ware, a folklorist, has explored Louisiana coastal communities and cultural resiliency; festivals and rituals of the state, especially rural Mardi Gras traditions; folk beliefs and healing traditions; women’s folklore and gender roles; public presentations of folklore and cultural tourism; and veterinary and medical folklore.
Ware was a Visiting Scholar to the Newcomb College Center for Research on Women in the 1980s and early 1990s.
