The Newcomb Art Gallery collections are focused on the crafts
produced at Newcomb College from the late 19th through the early
20th century with more than 400 examples of pottery, metal work, embroidery
and bound books. The largest holdings are in the area of Newcomb
Pottery, including a number of rare exhibition-only and early
experimental pieces. Additionally, the Gallery holds paintings,
drawings, sculptures and photographs by past and present faculty
and students of the Newcomb Art Department. Notable, as well,
are the two Tiffany window triptychs that once adorned the Newcomb
Chapel and are now installed in Woodward Way flanking the entrance
to the Gallery.
The Newcomb Art Gallery is also guardian of the Tulane University Art Collections,
which include a diverse array of works acquired since the school's founding. Some of these objects are on display in Tulane's administrative offices and public spaces.
