Internship
Program
The Newcomb Art Gallery Internship Program offers students “hands-on” training and a comprehensive overview of the gallery profession. Interns will have the opportunity to gain insight into the roles of gallery staff and the undertakings needed to make an art gallery function. Students will learn about collections, exhibitions, education programs, special events, marketing, membership and communications. Interns experience all aspects of gallery operations. Alternatively, students may elect to focus on specific areas. The Gallery offers fall, spring and summer internships. Internships are unpaid, though credit hours may be possible.
Eligibility
All rising sophomores, juniors, and seniors in good standing are eligible to apply. Candidates must have completed their freshman year by the June of 2007. The Gallery encourages candidates from diverse backgrounds and interests. Preference may be given to students pursuing studies in Art History, Studio Art or other areas related to a particular focus of the internship. However, applicants need not be Art majors.
Application Procedure
Candidates must submit a completed application form, and a short essay.
For Fall 2007 internships, all materials need to be received no later than June 22, 2007. Successful applicants will be selected and notified by mid-July 2007.
