A Series In Excellence: Featuring Women Engineers

The first speaker will be Dr. Kristi Anseth, Professor, University of Colorado at Boulder. Her talk is titled Dynamically Tunable Hydrogel Matrices: Cell Biology in the Fourth Dimension.

Newcomb Ball Tournament

Form a team of 6 and join us for a tournament of Newcomb Ball, the game invented at Newcomb College in 1895. Newcomb Ball is a hybrid of volleyball and dodgeball. You don't need to know how to play--we'll teach you, so grab your sneakers and join us! Web Design Internship available at the Collat Media Lab

Looking for an on-campus internship where you can develop your technical skills?  Apply to be a Collat Media Intern for the Fall semester.  We are seeking a media intern to design the online presence for Fundacion para la Conservacion de los Andes Tropicales (FCAT), an NGO in Equador that combines scientific research with community-oriented conservation related activities, including capacity building, environmental education and sustainable development. Welcome Wednesdays will resume at the Bea Field Alumni House on the Tulane uptown campus on Wednesday, September 4 and the first Wednesday every month -- October 2, November 6 and December 4. Students, faculty and staff members are cordially invited to start the day socializing with fellow Tulanians while enjoying a free continental breakfast. In addition to coffee, alumni relations staff members welcome students with orange juice, biscuits, and more breakfast treats. Welcome Wednesdays is part of the Lifecycle Programs, an effort of the alumni relations office under the direction of Ken Tedesco. Film Screening: Miss Representation

The Forum For Equality, in association with several local organizations including Newcomb College Institute, Greater New Orleans NOW and the Independent Women's Organization, will be hosting a screening of Miss Representation. The film explores how the media's misrepresentations of women have led to the under representation of women in positions of power and influence.
 
Following the film will be a discussion with several women leaders in the community who will speak on their experiences as well as ways to help nurture future women leaders.
