Entering freshmen who have had Spanish or Portuguese in high school are placed
at the appropriate level by assessment of their high school records. Language
laboratory work is encouraged in 101, 102, and 112, 203 and in certain advanced
courses. Spanish and Portuguese 101, 102, and 112 meet five hours a week; all
other courses meet three hours per week unless otherwise stated in the course
