Founded in 1914, Omicron Delta Kappa (ODK), the National Leadership Honor Society, recognizes and encourages superior scholarship, leadership and exemplary character. Membership in ODK is a mark of highest distinction and honor. The ODK Circle at Tulane University was installed in 1930.

Membership in ODK is as much an obligation and responsibility in leadership as it is a mark of highest distinction and honor. Unlike most other organizations at Tulane, ODK members represent every section of the university. Our circle includes undergraduate and graduate students, faculty, staff, administrators, and alumni and to persons qualifying for membership "honoris causa" who recognize and encourage superior scholarship, leadership, and exemplary character.

The Society recognizes achievement in:

  • scholarship
  • athletics
  • campus and community service, social and religious activities, and student government
  • journalism, speech, and the mass media
  • creative and performing arts.

The ideal ODK candidate will demonstrate a high level of achievement in at least one of the above-mentioned areas of collegiate and/or community activities. Emphasis is placed on the development of the whole person, both as a member of the college community and as a contributor to a better society.
