Likeliness of a Value
Many variables have expected ranges. The
range of z-scores for child growth (weight-for-age, height-for-age, and weight-for-height)
is usually between 4 standard deviations below and above the mean. Thus z-scores
found outside this range may be the result of data collection or recording problems, and
should be identified as errors.
